Tebulus




Tebelus is a seasonal fruit found abundantly in Sarawak, usually together with durian and other seasonal fruits towards the end of the year.

Tebelus is a name given by the local Melanau community.  It’s scientific name is Litsea garciae, of the family Lauraceae.

It is green when mature, turning pink and softened upon ripening. 

Normally, it is soaked in warm saline solution before consuming.  The fruit actually softened when it ripe, soaking it in saline is just to add salt to make it tastier.   

The edible flesh is soft and creamy, some describe it similar to avodaco, a fruit of the same family.    

I don’t really enjoy it though.

番茄炒蛋

First, stirfry 3 eggs till cooked.
Then, put in 3 sliced-tomato, stirfry them a bit.  Pour in some water, and let it simmer till the tomato softened.  
Season it with a few tablespoon of ketchup and a bit sugar.  
And salt, of course.

洋葱,玉葱,葱头,Onion, Bulb Onion, Common Onion, Garden Onion, Bawang (Malay)
原产于地中海沿岸及中亚。清末自欧洲引入中国。
肥大鳞茎,圆状,有白、黄、红色。叶圆筒形,中空,先端渐尖。老株开花。
鳞茎为主要食用部位。辛香辣味。
: 大蒜素 Allicin,为催泪物质。
加工成 : 脱水洋葱,洋葱粉,洋葱盐,洋葱糖,洋葱精油,洋葱罐头等。
耐收。可藏半年之久。

红葱头,油葱,大头葱,火葱,分葱,细香葱,Shallot Bawang Merah (Malay)
原产于西亚。十字架东征时传入欧洲。
红葱头比一般洋葱小。鳞茎表面有紫红色薄膜,肉浅紫白色。
鳞茎为主要食用部位。辛香辣味。
是中菜烹调中不可缺的增味的食材。
葱油的主要材料。
耐收。

原产于中国。于第9世纪传入日本。
鳞茎狭园锥形,肉白色。叶条形,扁平。白色倒心形果瓣。

不耐收。

扁球形,外有灰白或棕色膜质鳞皮,内有6-10蒜瓣。瓣白色,肥厚多汁。

株高约20-50cm。叶柄肥长,沟状。
原产欧洲。由高加索引入。
含大量芹菜素,钙质,铁质。

芫荽yánsui 胡荽,芫茜,香菜,CorianderKetumbar (Malay)
芫荽叶一般是切碎撒在汤上,也有用来直接炒菜肴。
芫荽耔晒干后、磨粉,用于印度、阿拉伯等菜肴里。
其味特殊,香与臭因人而异。
株高约10-15cm
原生于地中海沿岸。西汉张骞于前138-119出使西域时引入中国。8-12世纪传入日本。
含癸醛Decanal Linalool,芳樟醇 p-Cymene,水芹烯 Phellandrene  对伞花烃Camphene, 岩芹酸Petroselic acid 等。

香芹,旱芹,洋芫荽,荷兰芹,法国香菜,意大利香芹,欧芹,Parsley
多用作香辛调味,沙拉配菜,佐汤,盘边装饰。

原生于地中海沿岸。相传由西汉张骞自西域传入中国。
含豆蔻醚Myristicin 芹菜醛 Apiole,类黄酮Flavonoid 香豆素 Coumarin
